Mary Agnes Armstrong was born in Maumelle Prairie, Arkansas, on December 28, 1869. Her father, Nathaniel Armstrong, along with his brothers, William Thomas Erwin and John Joseph, and their father, moved from Rockbridge County, Virginia, to Craighead County in 1844. Her mother, Martha (Mattie) Maloney, was a native of Craighead County. Nathaniel and Martha had several children, but only Mary Agnes lived past childhood. She went to school in Jonesboro.
In 1888, Mary Agnes married Judas Stotts. Their son, Nathan Allen Stotts was born Dec. 4, 1891, and died in 1912 of a ruptured appendix.
After Judas Stotts' death, Mary Agnes married Charles William Claunch on June 6, 1900. Their first child, Agnes Jane, died in infancy. Their second child, Charles Luther, was born February 7, 1906.
Mary Agnes died of cancer January January 5, 1931, and is buried in the City Cemetery in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
